Art Psychotherapy is a creative way of exploring feelings, thoughts and issues that affect our lives in a supported and confidential environment.

Art Psychotherapy developed from the understanding that sometimes words are not enough to express our experience of our lives. Through the use of art materials the client is invited to create an image and may want to talk about this experience with the therapist.

Art Psychotherapy respects the autonomy of each individual and believes in the inherent creativity of all people. It is therefore suitable for people of all ages and capabilities.

All materials are provided by the therapist who, as an artist themselves, can guide the client in their choice of materials and may provide directives to help their client focus on important issues.

There is no right or wrong way of engaging with the materials and no previous art experience is necessary.
